One of this year's best new shows, The Big C, has been given a second season. The series, currently in its first season, stars Laura Linney as a middle aged woman who discovers she has terminal cancer. The show could have been a huge downer given the subject matter, but Linney delivers such a magnificent performance that will surely make her a front runner come Emmy season. Because of the nature of the show, each season of the series will be a season of time. Since its summer in the first season, the second season will take place in the fall. If you are not watching this show stop what you are doing and schedule some time in front of the tube.

It looks like Showtime is sticking with the formula that has yet to fail: Dark TV dramadies (man I hate that word) led by eccentric, magnetic women. The network has also renewed its flagship pot comedy, Weeds, for a seventh season. Nancy Botwin is going to be slinging for another year. After a rocky fifth season, Weeds has been working hard to get its mojo back in the current sixth season. [Zap2it]
